Ibuprofen (generic for Motrin, generic for Advil) is a pain reliever and the most commonly used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Ibuprofen is used to treat pain.
Avoid if you have kidney disease or a bleeding problem.
Ibuprofen can cause severe stomach bleeding, especially in people with known stomach ulcers, bleeding problems, or alcohol use. Do not combine ibuprofen with blood thinners. Ibuprofen can cause kidney problems (renal failure). Ibuprofen may cause a severe allergic reaction.
